Do you like winter, or not, and why?

I’ve never experienced winter yet.  We stayed at Minneapolis at the start of Fall and coming from a tropical country, I was already having a hard time with the cold then… I don’t think I can survive the cold of winter.  Although, I’d like to experience it someday.

Are you a listener or talker?

I’m both, depending on my mood.  I used to work in a call center so there was a time in my life when I just liked to keep silent after working long hours talking non-stop.

What is your favorite juice or fruit drink?

I used to love drinking Hi-C orange juice when I was young and went to school abroad.  We don’t have those vending machines here so I just drink the local orange juice here.

What do you have to be so happy about?

I have God.  I have my husband.  I have my family.  I have my friends.  Nuff said…

Dear Diary,

I’ve always loved Sci-Fi, but to be honest, I didn’t watch any of the old or classic Star Trek shows or movies.  I knew about it and I was aware of the characters as they were always referenced by the other shows I watched, but the very first Star Trek I saw was the 2009 movie and that’s when I started to love it.

So, don’t be surprised that I dragged my husband to watch Star Trek: Into Darkness even if he hasn’t watched the 1st movie yet.  I told him he can watch the 1st movie later at home and just whispered the answers to his questions about the characters he wasn’t familiar with…

I was not disappointed at all!  In my opinion it was better than the 1st movie.  At some point during the movie I kept holding my breath during intense scenes and I was literally on the edge of my seat.

Since hubby recently got a haircut, he no longer resembles Jackie Chan but looks a lot like Sulu (John Cho) now… hehe  Of course when I told him that, his reply was that he was better looking than him…

Great performance by the main cast.  Kirk and Spock’s friendship was really fun to watch, specially when Kirk teases him a lot.  The villain, played by Benedict Cumberbatch (who also plays Sherlock on the British series), was just wonderful and added to the mystery of the story.

Cast: Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Urban
Director: J.J. Abrams
Movie Studio: Paramount Pictures
Rating: PG-13 (For violence, adult language, sexual situations)

Hubby enjoyed it even though he didn’t watch the 1st movie, so that shouldn’t be a problem to those who haven’t seen that yet.  A must watch for all the sci-fi fans out there. 🙂

Love Lots,

Dear Diary,

Because I like listing pet peeves…

  1. Candidates who won because they have their father’s last name, taking the spot that might have gone to someone with experience or someone who has already done a lot for the country to prove they deserved that spot.
  2. Campaign ads dripping with falseness and lies.
  3. Candidates who think we have some sort of selective amnesia, so that we forget what they did in the past…
  4. The ironic Filipinos who don’t vote and then complain that the reason they don’t is because nothing is ever going to change.  They actually think that change comes from being apathetic…
  5. Religious leaders telling their members that if they don’t vote for specific candidates they will go to hell…
  6. Cheating and doing illegal stuff to get more votes…  Then acting all innocent and honest…

And I’m sure I’ll edit this and add more later, but right now I’ve got more important things to do…

I did my part.  I tried to make a difference.  I researched on the candidates.  I voted wisely.  That’s definitely better than not voting and just sitting at home watching the news, complaining that nothing changed.  Or posting on FB about reasons why you didn’t vote was because you were fed up with the system.  Well, a lot good your FB status did to change the system…  Walk the talk people…

To the newly elected candidates, I may have or may not have voted for you.  But the fact that you are now in that position, please please please have a conscience and actually do something for the good of our country.

Love lots,

Dear Diary,

I’ve watched three new movies last week and yesterday.  One was a local Filipino Romantic movie, which I was able to drag my husband to watch with me.  I don’t often watch Filipino movies (I probably watch one movie a year, at most 2 I think , last year…)  but I wanted to watch It Takes a Man and a Woman, because I found the trailer funny.  And was really glad that I enjoyed the movie, it had its funny moments and might have gone overboard with some cheesy love scenes, but no so much that it ruined the whole thing.

Then we watched a James Mcavoy movie called Trance.  I do not want to talk about it.  I did not like it.  Yes, I understood the plot.  If not for James’ dreamy eyes, I would not even mention that I watched the movie… Some people liked it, but I just thought it was too slow.  So moving on.

We watched Dark Skies yesterday.  It’s a thriller about a family experiencing strange events in their life and discovering that those behind it are not from earth.  I’m a big fan of alien shows and movies (although, not necessarily believing in it), I got addicted to the X-Files when I think I was just 13 and was fascinated by shows that share similar themes. I didn’t know that Dark Skies was about aliens though and was pleasantly surprised to find that this horror movie was not about monsters or anything paranormal but from extraterrestrial beings…

A lot of jumpy moments due mainly because of the music and sound effects that give a big bang when it wants to scare you.  And if you happened to have been in the cinema during the time I was watching, then I admit that it was me that screamed during that scene.  Yes, that was my shrill high pitched scream that you heard…

STARRING: Keri Russell, Dakota Goyo, Josh Hamilton (not the baseball player),
DIRECTED BY: Scott Charles Stewart
STUDIO: Dimension Films
RATING: PG-13 (For violence, language, adult themes)
DARK SKIES Official Website:
DVD Release Date: TBD

If you like thrillers and horror movies then I recommend that you watch this movie in the cinemas.  There’s nothing like watching horror in the cinemas instead of at home with people who don’t take the movie seriously and ruin the fun and thrill of jumping and screaming at just the right moments.
