Kids at Weddings

Dear Diary,

Weddings are usually all about the Bride.  She’s the main actress and the one that should get the most attention.  But darn, those kids can really steal the scene sometimes.  You have the kids that are natural aisle walkers.  You have the ones that need more coaxing in order to get them to walk.  And then you have the ones that need to be accompanied to get them to walk down the aisle.  Of course special mention to those who run away in the wrong direction or just start to cry…

So here’s a collection of pictures I have of kids in weddings. Enjoy!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgic

Nostalgic. Sometimes, we long for the past: for moments we want to remember or recapture. The good times. The golden years. Or perhaps we’re homesick, or longing for something — or someone — that might have been.

I have a 3-year-old cousin.  He’s smart, witty, funny and super cute.  He is now in the province though…  I spent more than a year with him and love him to death…  Cried when he left to go back to the province…  And so I dedicate this post to him. Because I miss how he would smile every time he saw me and exclaim, “Ate Kawen!”

Baby Blues…

Dear Diary,

My brother’s wife is one month pregnant now. 🙂  This is supposed to be a secret but since this is my blog and no one really knows exactly who I am… (But if you do happen to be my Facebook friend, then just don’t tell them you read it here… hehehe)

I’m excited to have my first nephew/niece.  At the same time I also wonder when my time will come?

Don’t get me wrong, hubby and I aren’t trying yet.  We have decided not to plunge into parenthood as we try to stabilize our lives first.  So it’s not like we can’t have babies.  It’s more of fear that we may not have enough to provide the life we want our kids to have.  My deadline is at the age of 35, but anyone that finds out about this plan keeps telling me that I’ll be too old then.

I’m torn, because I love kids and my friends have their own mini versions of themselves already.  Sometimes I think that I want to have one now and then I think about the bills to pay and my decision to wait gets reaffirmed…

But I know that as long as I have these doubts then it’s not the right time yet.  At the moment though, I’ve been subscribing to parenting newsletters.  🙂 I know that parenting is nothing like preparing for exams and no amount of what I read will actually prepare me completely when a baby comes, but these articles help a lot too because first time parents need as much guidance as they can get.

But enough seriousness for a while, here’s a strip of my favorite comics ever since I was still in college:

Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

It’s still phoneography month, and in today’s challenge I’m hoping you’ll put all of that futuristic camera tech to good use, by thinking about the shape of things to come.

When my 3-year-old cousin sees a book, he gets excited and asks the adults to read it to him.  After a couple of minutes, he grabs it and pretends to read it to us instead.  Sometimes I feel like there are too many kids these days that are always stuck in front of the TV or playing games in their iPad or game consoles. It gives me hope to still see kids like my cousin, who are interested in books and reading.

He saw my book on the table and he just grabbed it, saying matter-of-factly, “Magbasa ako.” (I will read).  He looked so cute that I quickly searched for my phone so I could take a picture.  He doesn’t know how to read yet but he recognizes all the letters and sounds. I just really love that he likes books, next to toy cars of course.  Photos taken with iPhone 4s and edited with Pixlr-O-Matic.
